So far we've been exploring the music video genre and how we would shoot our video. Along with Miss Blackborow's help, we've had visits from Jake, the director and Jasmine our choreographer. We are working on recreating the music video to She and Him's 'In The Sun.'
With this project, we started by exploring the lyrics and generating ideas, then actually watching the video, thinking about how the artists have acted, the director has constructed his vision and how we would practically reconstruct it. The genre of this video is indie folk and the artists have interpreted the video by drawing on 50s iconography and parodying other videos set in American High Schools, such as Britney's 'Baby, One More Time.'
We have had a few dance lessons with Jasmine, a former Latymer student. We have been learning routines, which hopefully I won't forget. I'm playing the blonde girl in an orange top, so hopefully I can do her justice or even top her performance!
We've also met Jake, who has directed and edited videos for artists like Geri Halliwell and Stereophonics. He'll definitely help us and I'm looking forward to learning from all the experience he's learnt across his career.
I'm really excited for this project, especially the practical side which I'm sure will be so much fun.
