Final Shoot

We're had our final shoot today, but we decided just to go around London and not film in a bedroom as we feel that this ties in with the London vibe, which is outdoors.

We filmed in Covent Garden, in places such as Neal's Yard which has colourful brick walls which we used as backdrops for lipsynching. I feel like these will give the video a more colourful, fun feel and can be a running theme throughout.

I also took some photos of Liv with more backgrounds, which we could use on the ancillary products (website or album cover), so that not all of our promotional shots are in the studio and the audience relate to 'Lexi' more.

We're reshooting the lipsynch parts and Miss suggested that we film in a bedroom. I've taken some photos of my room, so we can compare it with Despina's and Joe's as well to see which suits the video and character more.

First shoot

On Thursday and Friday we shot our video. The first day was around central London and we visited locations such as Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Soho and Camden. Some shots that we had really planned work well, but many others that were improvised didn't work.

On the second day, we went to Alexandra Palace, which was for the lip-synch part. Liv didn't know the words so we really struggled to film as we had to do each line at a time which was quite time consuming.

We will defintitly need a re-shoot as we know what worked and what didn't, so I think that we should really try planning everything and make sure that Liv knows what she is doing asnd how to act, as she felt awkward sometimes.

Miss Blackborow suggested that we have a rehearsal with Liv, where we all sing and film so that she feels more comfortable. This is a really good idea and this week, we will try to get that done.

Other things to do are:

• make a rough edit
• troubleshoot things that went wrong and find ways to improve
• think about where the video is going - what is the narrative - any motifs?

So far

We've had lots of meetings about this project and even though it's half term we decided to have another one yesterday as we really needed to get a shot list done and sort out what exactly we need to bring for the shoots at the end of the week.


The shot list really helps us to get organised as we know where we are going and when. We plan to go to Hyde Park first as it will be empty and then Trafalgar Square as we want some people in shots but not huge crowds. From there, we're going to Covent Garden, Soho and around Carnaby St as these are all near each other and we can get some really good shots of Liv walking around iconic places which will hopefully look good when we cut them together.


The shot list also made us think about costumes, so we know what Liv is wearing and at which points.

Test shoot

We had a test shoot for the album cover and website yesterday, which went really well. We got lots of shots which we could use, but unfortunately, some have mysteriously been deleted!


Nevertheless, we did get some really good photos. I found it really useful to have a test shoot before filming as it helped Liv to loosen up and for us to get used to the environment and how we could help Liv. We had help from Miss Blackborow and Pat, the technitian who helped us with lighting and setting up.

We tried different outfits and used props like the guitar amp and headphones to connote an edgy, urban vibe.

We experimented with different lighting to create shadows or make Liv stand out more. The last shot is too dark, but some of the others like the penultimate photo are lit well and Liv's expression is really nice. We're thinking of using this shot for the back cover of the album, with her looking at the tracks.
